Experience of using sirolimus-eluting stents in patients with coronary artery disease
Maslov L.N.

Sirolimus-eluting stents have reduced the problem of restenosis but have not solved it completely. The published data confirm that the stents containing sirolimis are effective in treating in-stent restenosis. The main problem of using stents with an anti-proliferative coating is related to possible stent thrombosis due to delayed or incomplete endothelialization of stent surface. A lot of investigators pay attention to the absence of differences in the rates of acute myocardial infarction and lethality after stenting with the use of sirolimus-eluting stents as well as the conventional bare ones. Although there are many articles about coronary angioplasty, only a few works present the randomized trials of anti-proliferative coated stents for the treatment of complex coronary lesions.

Experience of clinical application of magnetic resonance angiography
Bogolepova E.A., Netesova E.V., Shustrova G.E, Abalmasov V.G.

The article analyzed the experience of clinical application of different magnetic resonance imaging techniques for arteries and veins of the head and neck. We performed magnetic resonance angiography to visualize simultaneously both the intra- and extracranial vascular beds with a single contrast injection. The use of contrast agent, scan direction opposite to the direction of blood flow and three-dimensional reconstruction allowed a complete assessment of the head and neck vascular system in one session.

Ultrasound examination of volumetric umbilical blood flow in the diagnosis of placental insufficiency
Trivozhenko A.B., Trivozhenko O.V., Chernova N.IU.

The article deals with the measurement of blood velocity in the umbilical vein in 112 women at different stages of pregnancy. Sufficiently high accuracy in the estimation of volumetric blood flow enables the use of this index along with the angle-independent indices in the diagnosis of placental insufficiency.

Ultrasound assessment of vascularization of thyroid nodules
Ionova E.A.

Multiple view scanning, color flow mapping and color Doppler energy examinations were performed in 249 patients to identify vascularization patterns in thyroid nodules. Results of these examinations were compared with postoperative histological findings. The thyroid ultrasound was useful in differential diagnosis, but is alone could not determine malignancy of a thyroid nodule. The ultrasound provided the means by which an accurate fine-needle biopsy could be performed. Only ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy determined the value of preoperative diagnosis.
